The EQ Foundation (EQ), the charitable arm of EQ Investors, is hosting a free seminar on Thursday 11 April that will look at how you can make a real difference with your charitable giving.

Make your giving great’ will offer attendees the opportunity to learn more about the common mistakes made by many philanthropists and the fast evolving concept of impact measurement.

Speakers for the seminar include:

  • John Spiers – EQ Chief Executive and an active philanthropist for more than 10 years. John will be explaining why selecting top charities is more difficult in finding good investments and outlining the techniques he has found useful.
  • Jim Clifford, OBE – Jim leads the Advisory & Impact team at the legal firm BWB. With over thirty years in private business and charity advisory and corporate finance, he has spent the last decade focusing on the developing social impact field, social investment, and corporate transactions by charity, public, and private sectors
  • Alex Day – as Director of the Big Give, Alex is responsible for developing the strategy for the non-profit, charitable website that enables donors to find and support charity projects in their field of interest. Since its inception in 2007, the Big Give has helped to raise £82 million for UK-registered charities.

John Spiers, EQ CEO, said: “We are fortunate to have such esteemed experts willing to share their vast knowledge. Most donors end up giving to causes that they don’t really understand and as a result miss out on the biggest benefit of philanthropy: seeing that your money has made a real difference. With more transparency now emerging, we can help people really know which charities are making the most impact.”
