Trainee Investment Manager

This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to learn about private client investment management including the interaction of economics, markets and investment behaviour.

The role requires a practical approach, personable skills, the ability to work within a team, an underlying curiosity about investments, and the desire to work with private clients. Technical studies will also be offered allowing the right candidate to build a career in the private client investment management industry.

What will you do?

The primary task will be to support the investment managers in their day-to-day activities by constructing and managing portfolios in line with the specific needs of private clients.

These include the following:

  • Assist the Investment Manager with client portfolio reviews
  • Help analyse portfolios
  • In time you will be expected to attend client meetings and write up meeting notes
  • Help to place transactions
  • Undertake basic fund analysis
  • Setup new clients
  • Check periodic statements
  • Liaise with the administration teams regarding settlements, transfers and corporate actions
  • Be familiar with regulatory requirements

You will strive to deliver the very best possible client service and experience. Being able to work effectively within a team environment, be well organised and have the ability to prioritise workloads are also essential requirements.

Training & development

You will gain hands on experience spending time with the research and administration teams as well as studying for the CISI Wealth Management diploma.

Academic qualifications

You will have or be on course for an upper second class honours degree.

Skills & experience

Though no work experience is needed, you must have strong mathematical and computer skills. You should be proficient with Microsoft Office especially Excel.
