The Select Television Production EIS 5 fund follows a capital preservation strategy, investing across twelve EIS qualifying television production companies, all creating high quality content for major broadcasters and with international appeal. The focus of this EIS is on productions including made-for-television films, mini-series and drama series.
The base case target return for the EIS is £1.08 per £1 invested, likely to be returned to investors shortly after the three year minimum holding period required. The return is expected to be generated through the sale of productions to major international television networks, broadcasters, sales agents, distributors and other acquirers of entertainment rights.
The EIS strategy is based on a commissioning model that is standard to the industry, where television content is pre-ordered by major broadcasters and distribution companies prior to production. This pre-sale seeks to offer an element of capital protection, and with the addition of tax credits, must account for at least 75% of a production budget to be considered by this EIS.
While there is no exit track record for this EIS range, the team returned over £150 million to EIS investors during their time at Ingenious.
