EQ Investors (EQ) has been a signatory to the PRI since 2019. Each year, we complete a rigorous disclosure of our sustainable investing practices as part of our obligation as a signatory, and PRI in turn provides an evaluation of our practices and rates us relative to our peers in a variety of categories.

The six principles for Responsible Investment are voluntary actions for incorporating ESG considerations into investment practice. We are committed to report annually on our activities and progress towards implementing the principles.

We are pleased to share the PRI’s 2021 assessment of EQ’s sustainable investing practices; our scorecard is provided below.

Changes in the assessment methodology from 2020 to 2021

In the 2021 Reporting Framework, the PRI introduced accountability measures around the accurate representation of PRI Assessment Reports externally. As such, the publication guidelines were developed to ensure consistent and accurate representation of PRI reporting outputs.

Module scores have moved from alphabetical grading (A+ to E) in 2020 to a new numerical grading system ranging from 1 to 5 stars in 2021.

Scorecard

The highest score is five stars and awarded to those signatories who demonstrate leading practices within the responsible investment industry.

We aim to generate long-term and sustainable financial returns for investors. In addition, many of our investments align with the UN Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs).

Commenting on EQ’s PRI score, Sophie Kennedy, Joint-CEO said:

Our PRI rating recognises our entire team’s commitment towards putting sustainability and transparency at the core of everything we do. It is great to see that these efforts have been acknowledged by the PRI. We are committed to a process of continuous improvement and will work hard to maintain and improve our scores as we continue to grow.
