Jeannie has been working in financial services for over 14 years. She joined EQ in 2008 as a Technical Consultant and since 2010 has been a Director of the firm.
When providing advice, Jeannie focuses on clear communication, so that her clients fully understand the facts, options and recommended solutions, enabling them to make well-informed decisions. As a Director, Jeannie concentrates her efforts on ensuring the advice provided across EQ is of an exceptional standard, putting in place processes and systems to ensure our clients remain at the heart of our business.
Jeannie is a Chartered Financial Planner, a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society and in 2015 won Money Management’s Ethical Financial Planner of the Year Award. She appears regularly in national and trade media outlets discussing personal finance issues.
Outside of work, Jeannie enjoys yoga, hiking, triathlons and live music.
Angus is a director of EQ and has been working in Financial services for over 30 years, advising private clients since 1992. He has continued to ensure his knowledge is among the best in the wealth management profession and is both a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society and a Chartered Financial Planner. Angus has particular expertise in the fields of pensions and investments – ensuring client objectives are achieved in as effective and tax efficient a manner as possible.
Angus is a member of the EQ Asset Allocation and Fund Selection committees and holds the Investment Management Certificate. He believes that a key part of his role is to cut out the jargon and simplify the complex rather than bamboozle clients with unnecessary bureaucracy. As he says, “Clients need to know that we know what we are talking about, but don’t need to be experts themselves”
Away from work Angus is a family man with three children and lots of chickens.
Peter has been helping clients since 1980. He specialises in all aspects of private client work including managing personal and family wealth, helping trustees measure and achieve investment objectives, tax planning, managing life’s risks and complementing advice from legal and accounting professionals.
Peter has an impressive portfolio of professional qualifications. He was among the first to be granted the title Chartered Financial Planner, is an Associate of the Personal Finance Society, an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute and a full member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners:
Peter has a simple maxim: “you can only arrive at the correct answer by listening more than speaking” and is a firm believer in keeping solutions simple, timely and to the point.
Peter is married and has four children. Outside the office he enjoys golf and walking.
Simon is a director of EQ and started his career in the Royal Navy after graduating from Oxford. He then moved into the City to follow a career in financial services where he has qualified as a senior investment manager.
Simon is an expert in pensions and investment and has continued to work with the same client s for more than twenty years – a testament to the level of service he has provided.
Simon loves the sea and has a Salcombe Yawl which he sails in the Devon estuaries. He also is involved as an actor and technically with the acclaimed Wintershall Passion plays held in London, Surrey, and Gloucestershire. He likes reading and walking in the Surrey hills – not simultaneously!
Freddie is a Chartered Wealth Manager. He joined EQ in 2015 having gained experienced in a variety of roles within larger financial organisations. He provides advice and financial planning for a wide range of clients, and is a strong advocate for technological innovation within personal finance.
Away from the office Freddie enjoys cooking, reading, and keeping fit.
Steve has spent most of his career in the wealth management profession, dealing mainly with private clients. During that time he has overseen investment policies from inception to maturity for many longstanding clients.
He enjoys all aspects of financial planning from retirement planning to tax mitigation and estate planning.
A devoted cyclist and walker, Steve’s journeys have taken him to far flung places such as New Zealand and Watford!
Mark is a director of EQ with over 25 years’ experience in financial services. His financial expertise is widely based and he practises as a general consultant advising clients on all areas of their financial planning. He also works closely with lawyers and accountants providing financial planning advice to their clients.
Mark has been married for over 30 years and has three children. He enjoys keeping fit in the gym and plays golf. When time permits he loves trekking and has climbed Kilimanjaro.
Matthew started his financial services career working in alternative investments for a large advisory firm in the city. Following this he began advising private clients on a more holistic basis, taking into account their protection, retirement and investment needs.
He believes that an extremely high level of knowledge of financial planning is essential to ensure that the best level of service can be received by his clients. He is a Chartered Financial Planner and also holds the Investment Management Certificate.
Outside of work Matthew enjoys sport, being a regular skier, runner and triathlete. He has completed the London Marathon and the Wales Ironman Triathlon.
Katharine started her career in 1998 in PwC’s financial planning team. She joined EQ Investors from Tilney Bestinvest where she worked closely with investment managers and professional advisers to deliver cohesive financial plans for clients.
Katharine’s areas of expertise are wealth management, retirement planning and pensions, investments, estate planning and tax planning. She is a Chartered Financial Planner, Certified Financial Planner, Taxation Technician Fellow and Chartered Tax Adviser.
Away from the office, Katharine enjoys spending time with family, gardening, theatre and is learning the piano after a 30 year break. Katharine is a charitable trustee of the Association of Taxation Technicians and represents them on technical pension discussions with HMRC and HM Treasury.
Ian started his career in financial services in 1983 in South Africa with Old Mutual and returned to the UK in 2003. With over 30 years’ experience, he has developed an affinity for dealing with mature clients and understands their concerns and needs. He has specialist qualifications in long term care and trust planning.
Ian is married with six children and six grandchildren and he enjoys spending time with his family, as well as being an avid rugby and motor sport spectator. He also enjoys visiting the British countryside and the many beautiful historical buildings, taking vast numbers of photographs and videos for his collection.
Andrew has over 35 years’ experience in the financial services profession. He started in retail banking, progressing to a bank manager by the age of 30. He left his role as a Wealth Manager in 2000 to become an Independent Financial Adviser and to specialise in Holistic Financial Planning and Wealth Management.
Andrew has a strong commitment to customer service, having established many long-standing client relationships, looking after some clients for over 25 years. He has achieved Chartered Financial Planner status and holds the specialist Care Fees Planning qualification from the Society of Later Life Advisers.
Andrew is married with three sons and has spent many years as a trustee for a number of local charities. He is involved in the leadership of his local church and is also a supporter of Stewardship, a charity providing education in better money management.
Victoria has worked in Financial Services for a number of years and joined EQ in 2014. She provides advice on all areas of financial planning with a speciality in retirement planning. Victoria is a Chartered Financial Planner and also holds the Certificate in Long Term Care Assurance.
Away from the office, Victoria enjoys travelling and baking an array of goodies.
Dale has been working in financial services for over 10 years. Her career started in South Africa as a currency futures trader, she soon made the move into financial planning having realised her passion for building trusted relationships with clients that need advice. Her husband had a career opportunity that brought them to the UK and she has continued to advise clients in the UK since then.
Dale’s focus is on communication without the jargon, ensuring clients have a very clear understanding and feeling that they are well informed to make their financial decisions. Her financial expertise is widely based and she practises as a general consultant advising clients on all areas of their financial planning. She is a CFA charter holder, being a regular member of the CFA Institute and CFA UK society.
Away from the office, Dale enjoys travelling and yoga.
Toby’s route to financial services was by no means traditional. After completing his Economics Degree at Loughborough University, he embarked on a professional rugby career spanning 2 years in both England and Italy. In 2007, he joined a large advisory firm based in the City; where he qualified and went on to mentor a team of 6 advisers. He joined EQ in early 2014.
His financial expertise is widely based and he practices as a general consultant advising clients on all areas of their financial planning. He also works closely with lawyers and accountants providing financial planning advice to their clients.
Toby is a family man with three young sons who keep him busy. He loves sailing and keeping fit when he can.
As EQ’s Head of Investment, Sophie has oversight and responsibility for all aspects of EQ’s investment activities. She is chair of the Investment Management Committee and serves on EQ’s Executive Management Team and Board of Directors.
Sophie joined EQ in 2015 as an Investment Analyst, specialising in open and closed-end funds, as well as tax-efficient investments including the Enterprise Investment Scheme and Venture Capital Trusts. Prior to joining EQ, she began her career at Tilney Bestinvest in 2011.
Sophie holds a MSc in Finance & Economics from the University of London and is a CFA Charterholder.
Mike heads up the investment management team. After completing his BSc in Chemistry at the University of London in 1985, he started his career in the financial markets as a bond trader before attending the Cranfield School of Management to complete an MBA in 1996. Mike joined Bestinvest in 1997 and helped launch the private client discretionary investment team in 2003. The service proved to be a success with clients, and the team went on to win both performance and client service awards.
Mike joined EQ Investors in March 2016 with a mandate to protect the core values of providing clients with the very best possible service & investment performance. He is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Securities & Investments.
Outside of the office, Mike enjoys sport and martial arts and is a keen amateur pilot. In 2008, he participated in the Round Britain Powerboat race and still enjoys occasional outings in competitive motorsport.
Damien has an MSc in Management from Reims Management School and an MSc in Wealth and Asset Management from ESCP-EAP Paris Business School. He is also a CFA charter holder, being a regular member of the CFA Institute and CFA UK society.
Before joining EQ Investors, Damien worked for Bank of America Merrill Lynch being responsible for asset allocation, security selection and portfolio construction. Damien now acts as the portfolio manager for the EQ Investors Positive Impact portfolios and brings an incredible enthusiasm for spreading the word about the benefits of impact investing.
Damien is a devoted sportsman, playing judo and squash on a regular basis. He also enjoys hiking, both in the UK and to places such as the Himalayas and the Kilimanjaro.
Kasim graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Physics from Imperial College and is a CFA charter holder, being a regular member of the CFA Institute and CFA UK. He began his career in investments in 2002, gaining experience as a portfolio manager and senior analyst of global capital markets. His experience spans multiple asset classes, constructing portfolios with varying risk/return objectives and active risk management processes.
Kasim is the portfolio manager for the EQ Investors Best Ideas portfolios. He is an active member of the investment management, strategic asset allocation and fund selection committees.
When not immersed at work, Kasim often finds himself stumped and constantly amazed by his young daughter at home. He also enjoys spending time in the kitchen practising his “cheffy” skills with both European and Asian cuisine, reflecting his mixed background.
Daniel is an Investment Manager in the Bespoke Discretionary Management team. He joined EQ Investors from Quilter Cheviot, where he managed private client portfolios and developed expertise in specialist fixed interest and equity mandates.
Daniel began his career in Financial Services at RBS after graduating from the University of Nottingham, subsequently joining the investment team at Bestinvest and has over 7 years’ experience as an Investment Manager. He holds a Masters in Wealth Management from the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment and a personal charter as a Fellow of the Institute.
Outside of the office Daniel enjoys mountaineering and climbing, having climbed in the Andes and across Europe. His other passions are travelling, surfing, cycling and sailing.
Andrew is an Investment Manager in the Bespoke team. He joined EQ Investors from Tilney Bestinvest where he was an Associate Director of Investment Management. Andrew’s area of expertise is managing bespoke portfolio mandates for private clients, Trusts, Charities and large Family office accounts.
Andrew has a Masters in Wealth Management from the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment, a MSc in Finance and Investment from BPP Business School in London and a BA from McGill University in Canada.
Outside of the office Andrew enjoys spending time with his young family and golden retriever. His hobbies include golf, running and wine.
Louisiana joined EQ in October 2018 after completing a masters in sustainable business at Imperial College London. Her MSc thesis was on impact reporting and this research led to the publication of EQ’s 2018 Impact Report for the Positive Impact Portfolios. She is now responsible for impact fund research and further evolving EQ’s impact strategy.
Louisiana graduated from UCL with a BSc in Geography and spent a year working for a Cleantech innovation research company before starting her masters.
Outside of her career, Louisiana loves travelling and discovering new places, cooking with friends and spending time outdoors.
Tertius joined EQ in 2016 and is responsible for covering investment ideas within US, global and thematic equities, as well as government, investment grade and high yield fixed income sectors. He also sits on both the fund selection and strategic asset allocation committees while also supporting the portfolio managers across a range of other responsibilities.
Michael is responsible for covering strategies across Absolute Return, Alternatives & Fixed Income, in addition to working on investment strategy and macro ideas across asset classes.
After reading for a BA in Philosophy, he embarked on a wide variety of jobs; working as a jazz pianist, bartender, gardener and in fund research, finally settling on a career in investment management. Prior to joining EQ, Michael worked for Morningstar, a leading investment research and data provider, in various roles across their product, data and research teams.
When not immersed in the analysis of capital markets, Michael is still very active as a musician, co-leading a trio with trumpeter Tom Spencer around London, and as a solo performer. His other interests include running, tennis, history and literature.
Lindsay joined EQ’s Technical Consultants team in January 2015, having worked in financial services since 2007, and is a Chartered Financial Planner. She has a particular interest in tax incentivised investments, and continues to develop a proficiency in this area.
With a background in languages, Lindsay is a polyglot and enjoys improving her language skills. She is also a PADI qualified Scuba Diver, with numerous dives made worldwide, from the warmer climes of the Caribbean to Icelandic fissures. She especially enjoys wreck dives and is hoping to complete the specialist Wreck Diver course soon.
John is the CEO of EQ. After gaining an MA in Engineering at Clare College, Cambridge he went into the City as a research analyst for 10 years. In 1986 he set up Bestinvest and over the next 20 years it grew to become a leading private client advisory and wealth management business with over 50,000 clients. In 2007 Bestinvest was acquired by 3i.
Since then John has built up a portfolio of other interests, including the establishment of a Foundation to support various charities. He has taken a particular interest in projects aimed to increase the use of Early Intervention to reduce child abuse. He has also retained a close interest in investment, being a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment and a member of the Investment Committee for Clare College.
John enjoys competitive sport and participates in historic motorsport and international croquet.
Paul is a chartered accountant with a maths degree from Durham University and acts as the Financial Director of EQ. He has held a similar position in a number of regulated financial services companies, including Bestinvest and SharePeople Group and also holds several non-executive directorships.
Outside of work Paul is a passionate sailor and has been the Commodore of his local club in recent years.
Mark is an Executive Director at EQ Investors responsible for the advisory and wealth management sides of the business; he is also charged with developing new distribution channels for the business. He has 30 years’ experience in senior executive positions within the wealth management, pensions and employee benefits sectors and was previously the Group Chief Executive of the Broadstone Group of companies before selling the group in May 2016 to private equity.
Leo has worked in financial services for over thirty five years and feels that the reason he joined the profession was to make ideas and solutions both more accessible and understandable, having had less than positive experiences himself as a consumer.
Wherever people are on their financial journey with a need to be addressed or even perhaps a second opinion, he believes an accessible solution is achievable and would like the opportunity to help you.
Leo is married with two children. In addition to his family, Leo’s other interests include comedy and following his respective football and rugby teams.
Nath began his career in financial services working for DST Global Solutions (now part of SS&C) as tech support for a range of middle and back office applications for institutional asset managers and banks before moving on to become a principal developer on portfolio management, performance, risk and attribution software.
He made the jump from institutional to retail wealth management when moving to EQ in 2015 where he is now responsible for overseeing IT infrastructure, IT operations and development of in-house software.
Ben joined EQ in 2015 and has over 17 years’ of experience across the pensions, financial technology and wealth management sectors. At EQ, he is responsible for developing, managing and implementing the marketing communications strategy.
Outside of work, Ben’s two daughters keep him busy. He enjoys keeping fit, especially running and cycling along the Pilgrim’s Way.
Chris has worked within the financial services industry for over 10 years, starting off at Halifax Bank of Scotland, moving onto Positive Solutions and then to Croydon-based Creative Benefits.
Chris is married with a young daughter. Outside of work he likes to take advantage of the London scene and goes to a lot of live comedy, music and theatre.
Chris is also into sport (mainly football, tennis, American football and cycling). Despite living near Watford he is still a season ticket holder for his beloved Newcastle United.
Matt returned to the UK in 2019 after travelling the world on and off over a 3-year period with an aim to help those in need. Deeply affected by his first-hand experiences with people struggling in developing countries, he came back with a passion to make a difference. While working for the New Zealand government’s Primary Industries department he saw how farmers were overwhelmed by a national biosecurity incident – and was part of a team that helped them recover financially.
Matt maintains the Giving is Great website, doing due diligence on charities’ impact measurements, and developing new ways to engage potential donors. He also advises The EQ Foundation on its choice of annual grantees, considering the long-term impact of interventions on beneficiaries to make the best decisions.
Outside of work Matt enjoys attending live music events and is a keen basketball player. He also enjoys long distance running and has completed charity runs with EQ colleagues to raise money for grantees of The EQ Foundation.
